$50,000 Awarded to Adorn Commerce Street Art District with Light Sculptures
If art belongs to everyone, public art displays are always an excellent way to spend city money. Before long Wichita citizens and visitors will be presented with light sculptures from local artists every time they drive by Commerce and Waterman near Intrust Bank Arena. The city has just awarded $50,000 for this pubic art project and artists are invited to submit their work.
Kansas artists or art teams who would like to help design the light sculptures are invited to submit five images of their previous work. Work should be designed for outdoor lighting as LED or similar.
Deadline is this Sunday. Artists will be notified by April 1st, 2015. Interested artists should submit up to five images and their bios or resumes to the district’s website, www.CommerceArtsDistrict.com.
