‘Artist funky’ lofts Project Approved By Kansas City Council

It seems a great new housing project near Kemper Arena is scheduled to begin in just 90 days. A plan that includes 5 buildings with almost 250 residential units is intended to appeal to creatives, who already gravitate to the industrial district in the West Bottoms, will revive a group of structures that have been vacant for more than a decade.

Aside from creating residential units, this project will also preserve the historical value of these buildings that are more than a century old. The estimated costs for the conversion are $25 million with some of the funding coming from historical redevelopment tax credits. The finished plan will include storage spaces, parking, and retail uses in two additional buildings as well as streetscape and lighting improvements in the area.
