Taken from their website:

We believe that young people with an excitement for the arts should have the opportunity and encouragement to develop not only a variety of artistic skills, but also their creativity, self-expression, academic potential, intellectual insight, moral character, and sense of community responsibility.

We believe that sound artistic training, discipline, and exposure to the arts help build the qualities of character, judgment, insight, and sensitivity so important to good citizenship and to a rewarding life in any vocation the student might choose.

It is the vision of the KC Metropolitan School of the Arts to provide pre-professional training to our students who are especially trained or interested in the arts.  We see our role as the KC Metropolitan School of the Arts to be a cultural asset to the community-at-large where the community will gain artists, advocates of the arts, and valued contributors to society as these students make their career and life choices.

Please check out their website – it is FULL of great information on the school.  Priority deadline for the 2015-2016 school year is May 1. 2015.
